MANDEVU’S GUIDE TO BEARD GROWTH – Part 2

MANDEVU’S GUIDE TO BEARD GROWTH – Part 2

As promised, here is Part 2 of our guide to beard growth.

Brush and comb your beard
Brushing is a great way to get rid of dead skin that interferes with beard growth. Combing helps maintain a growth pattern – remember to comb downwards for best results.
Brushing and combing also help distribute your nourishing beard products.
Do not comb your beard every chance you get as this will hinder growth. Rather brush and/or comb in the morning and evening. Less is more in this case.

Identify your style and goal
This is more for your peace of mind. You’ve been getting to know your beard or lack thereof since puberty. Do not aim for a full thick beard when you know you can’t achieve it. A stubble is just as good. Work with what you’ve got – it is enough.

Let it grow
You will need to harness all the patience you have for at least the first 1-3 months of this beard growth journey. It may look crazy at first but good things really do come to those who wait. This phase is where many men fall off and end up shaving or resorting to ‘miracle growth’ oils – which only mess you up further.
Letting it grow also allows you to see how fast and far your beard hair can go and you can use this information to pick out the best beard style for you.

Trimming
Assuming that you have started the beard growth journey and have waited for the prescribed 1-3 months of letting it grow, you can now start to trim it.
Trimming is another accelerator of growth as it gets rid of stray hairs which are a hindrance to hair growth.

Diet
As mentioned in part 1 of this article, testosterone is one of the main contenders for beard growth.
An unhealthy diet will lower your testosterone levels while a balanced, healthy diet will increase them.
A healthy diet cannot override genetics, however, it will ensure that any existing hair you have grows out healthier and fuller. Add foods rich in zinc & iron, lean proteins, whole grains, healthy fats, and fruits & vegetables to your diet, and watch the magic happen!
