Firstly, let us start by giving kudos to the bearded men who set a goal and accomplished it!
Now that you’ve crossed the finish line, it’s time to pamper your beard.
Let’s restore and get your beard back to tip top shape.
- Deep beard wash
Make it a mission to deep wash and condition your beard this week. This entails steaming your face for at least 5 minutes (feel free to explore different methods but ensure that you break a sweat), washing your beard with a beard wash and moisturising using a tailor made beard oil. This will get your hair softer and it will also open the pores surrounding the skin under your beard. The process of steaming/exfoliating allows for the nutrients from the products you use to get in there and do their job.
2. Rehydrate
You have lost a lot of fluids these last few weeks/months (depending on how seriously you trained). Spend this week rehydrating.
-Drink loads of water to rehydrate your body
- Be consistent with your beard oil to rehydrate your beard (do this without fail for at least 2 weeks after the marathon).
3. Pat dry
We’ve mentioned this before. From here on out, please use this as a rule of thumb.
Picture the process of how your tender follicles and skin feel when they are rubbed in a rough manner.
Dry your beard as gently as you would rub your partner's face… it needs that TLC (tender, loving, care).
4. Assess and adjust
Your beard, like your body, has been through changes. Even if you are a consistent marathon runner, you know that each new challenge requires a different, next level effort from your body (the same happens with your hair).
Assess if your beard needs trimming because of split ends and damaged hair.
Assess if you need to let it grow out then trim once your hair has grown in.
Needs will be specific to your individual beard.
Take your time and find your rhythm - it's a marathon, not a sprint!
For this guide, you will need a beard balm, beard oil, grooming scissors and a beard wash.
