BEARDED LEGENDS

BEARDED LEGENDS

We already know that beards are one of the coolest things you can possess. If you beg to differ, here is a little information about legends with beards. These bearded men from all walks of life all share the similarity of epic beards and epic life stories to go with them. Some may argue that the beards have nothing to do with their heroics…but the beard gang knows better.
  1. Jesus Christ

Believer or not, one thing that everyone can agree on is Jesus’ beard. Debates have gone back and forth about His existence and even about His ethnicity. However, the one thing that has never been questioned is His beard. All the different portrayals of Him never lack a full, beautiful beard.
  1. Martin Luther King Jr.

This hero may not have had a full beard but we still love the moustache. He was not only legendary for his amazing work and efforts towards the revolution of black people but he is also legendary for rocking the ‘stache so well! Him and other legendary men such as W.E.B Du Bois and Michael Jordan have succeeded in making the ‘stache look good even with the constant back and forth about its popularity over the years.
  1. Kofi Annan

An unproven saying is that beards make men wiser. Kofi Annan may just be the proof we need to believe this. We not only love all the work he’s done in efforts to make this world a better place, but his salt and pepper goatee is a definite YES for us!
  1. Haile Selassie I

He was an Ethiopian Emperor who eventually became a symbol of hope for people around the world, particularly in Jamaica. He was seen “as a messianic figure who will lead a future golden age of eternal peace, righteousness, and prosperity”. That’s one hell of a definition for this bearded man!
  1. Oliver Tambo

We just had to add this extraordinary African man to our list because he managed to wear mutton chops which is a very unique style for most members of the bearded community. He fought the great fight against apartheid and rocked the mutton chops seamlessly and consistently, from his younger days until his facial hair turned grey.

So the next time someone asks you why you rock that facial hair, don’t forget to point out these legends. Let’s make sure that we as the beard gang work towards making a difference everyday just like these heroes.

Mandevu’s got you through your legendary journey!
