It’s that time of the year again when we put away our shaving creams and razors and neglect our beloved barbers for a month. It’s Movember time.
Before that, there are some rules that must be followed in order to do Movember right from beginning to end. Think of this as the Movember pregame!
RULE #1:
You must shave off your entire beard. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve been growing it or how your patches just started to fill in…1st November is international shaving day!
We feel your pain beard gang. However, we promise it will grow back and we’ll be with you every step of the way.
RULE #2:
Pick a style. The Mandevu fam knows all about choosing a style of beard based on aspects such as the shape on your face. If you have no idea what we’re talking about, check out previous blog posts and you will be able to figure out which beard style works perfectly just for you.
The point of Movember is growing a moustache only. Here at Mandevu, we advocate for a full beard including a moustache.
RULE #3
Grooming is a must! Grab your beard wash, beard oil and beard balm and keep them close this Movember. Remember to follow the proper steps as you first shave, then proceed to grow your beard out.
Warm your skin before and after your shave (you can use a hot towel for this), use a proper shaving cream and razor to shave off the hair. Once you are clean shaven, spread some balm and oil on your lower face to complete the process. This will allow you to have a healthy canvas for new hair growth.
RULE #4
Be patient and have fun with it.
This month comes with a lot of competition of ‘who grew the longest beard in a month’: You may start comparing your beard with others as the month goes on which could eventually leave you frustrated and push you to look for a quick fix to grow your beard faster.
Remember that this month is about focusing on men’s health issues and being there for our brothers. Put the competitiveness aside and let your beard grow at its pace while you enjoy the month!
