Your beard harbors a lot more bacteria and germs than a clean shaven face. This is because your beard is a warm and snuggly place for them to hide and live in. This is why it is important to clean your beard on a daily basis so it can be bacteria and germ free.

Here is a step by step process to keep your mane clean and fresh at all times.

  • Rinse daily:

This is the easiest step. When you wake up in the morning to wash your face, rinse through your beard as well. You can also do this step in the shower to make things easier. Warm water is your friend! It is gentle on your skin and beard and leaves you feeling refreshed. A last cold water rinse is even better if you are brave enough! This will close your pores.
  • Wash 1-2 times a week:

Your beard will need a proper wash day at least once a week. We recommend this step only 1-2 times a week seeing as we do not want you to get rid of all the healthy nutrients your beard takes in from oil. Moderation is the best bet when it comes to washing your beard with product.
  • Exfoliate 1-2 times a week:

Get a beard towel – yes, a beard towel, for this step. Your beard will thrive more if you have a little towel just for this to avoid getting other germs or products that could be in your main towel.
This step requires hot water which you will then dip your towel in and rest on your beard for about two minutes. This opens up your pores and gets excess dirt out. Open pores + a clean beard = beard growth and health.
If this seems like too much of a hustle for you, you could steam your beard for two minutes rather than using a towel. The results are the same either way. Remember to finish off with cold water as a final rinse to close your pores that you opened with the steam.
  • Oil every day:

Your beard balm and oil are your best friends. You need to use these every day. This is a simple addition to your preparation. As you oil your face and body, give your beard that much needed moisture as well.
These simple steps will keep your beard fresh and clean all day, every day.
