How to Get Rid of Beard Dandruff

Growing a beard requires time, dedication and effort. Along the way there can be hurdles that hinder you from growing a perfectly proportional and full beard. One of those hurdles is beard dandruff. If you have been through the struggle of dealing with beard dandruff, worry not because you are not alone. A lot of people, bearded or otherwise have faced this challenge as well.

Today we are going to give you some amazing tips on how to get rid of it. Beard dandruff can be defined simply as flaking of skin causing itchiness around your face and beard. We have all heard of dandruff on our head or scalp which is caused by Seborrheic dermatitis. Beard dandruff however, is caused by another culprit called Malassezia globosa along with dryness around your face.

Dryness can occur when your skin is washed with harsh products that are not meant for your beard. Soaps and shampoos that are not made with your beard in mind can stimulate or speed up dryness. On the other hand, beard dandruff can be caused by a microbe that lives on skin.

Malassezia globosa is a microbe that is found on skin and its main task is to break down sebum. This is the natural oil which your skin produces and the breakdown process is known to leave behind oleic acid.

The acid left behind is what irritates skin and can get worse for people with naturally oily skin. Reason being more Malassezia microbes will come to the face which would in turn increase production of oleic acid. The other reason that can influence beard dandruff is cell regeneration.

Skin is the largest organ in our bodies and so it needs to get rid of dead skin cells. In some people cell turnover from dead to new can be faster as compared to others. When that is the case, it can lead to accumulation of dead skin cells in your face. Other factors that can affect beard dandruff include change in seasons, humidity levels and hot or cold weather.
