In preparation for the Standard Chartered marathon happening on the 27th of October 2024, we have curated tips for the bearded marathon runner.
Preparing for a marathon is no easy fit, caring for your beard while training adds an extra level of difficulty but worry not, these pointers are made to tackle this.
We will start off with pre marathon tips.
- Cleanse and condition
As you prepare for the marathon, the work outs and runs will get your body ready for the day, however these activities are not great for your beard. The constant sweating and drying of the beard could cause it to become weak and brittle. Ensure that you wash your beard at least twice a week with a gentle, deep conditioning beard wash. This will help clean off any excess dirt while maintaining the nutrients that keep your beard healthy.

2. Moisturise
Moisture is the most important thing for your beard. You are losing a lot of moisture as you train for the marathon. Get yourself a beard oil that will moisturise the beard as well as the skin underneath it.
*Pro tip: always look out for ingredients such as jojoba and argan oil as they have been proven to be the most effective for beard care.

3. Choose the right gear
Invest in clothes that will cater to your athletic needs.Opt for moisture-wicking fabrics like polyester or nylon (especially if you plan to wear pull neck shirts that could interact with your beard).
These fabrics aid in absorbing sweat quickly and avoiding friction or burn marks on your beard, skin and body.
