The rains are coming! Everyone's talking about the rains; the flooding, the traffic, the roofs. Fair enough. But there's a quieter side effect nobody mentions: what damp, humid weather does to your skin and beard.
More moisture in the air doesn't mean better skin. Often it's the opposite. Sweat, wet clothing, and skin that never fully dries between downpours create the perfect conditions for irritation and fungal issues like ringworm or jock itch. A beard that stays damp longer than it should; under a hood, after getting caught outside; adds itching and odour to the list.
A few things worth doing differently this season:
Dry off properly, especially your beard. A quick towel pass isn't enough if you got soaked.
Don't over-wash to compensate. It strips the skin barrier right when you need it intact.
Watch for early signs. Persistent itching or a musty smell are easier to deal with early than three weeks in.
Keep tools dry. A damp comb sitting in a bag does more harm than good.
It's easy to overlook while the rain demands all your attention. But your skin doesn't pause for the chaos; it just keeps responding to whatever it's sitting in.
Stay dry where you can. Where you can't, dry off properly.
